Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Gail Winfrey (born Orpah Gail Winfrey; January 29, 1954) is an American media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist. She is best known for her talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show, which was the highest-rated television program of its kind in history and was nationally syndicated from 1986 to 2011. Dubbed the “Queen of All Media”, she has been ranked the richest African-American, the greatest black philanthropist in American history, and is currently North America’s first and only multi-billionaire black person. Several assessments rank her as the most influential woman in the world. In 2013, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama and honorary doctorate degrees from Duke and Harvard.

Winfrey was born into poverty in rural Mississippi to a teenage single mother and later raised in an inner-city Milwaukee neighborhood. She has stated that she was molested during her childhood and early teens and became pregnant at 14; her son died in infancy. Sent to live with the man she calls her father, a barber in Tennessee, Winfrey landed a job in radio while still in high school and began co-anchoring the local evening news at the age of 19. Her emotional ad-lib delivery eventually got her transferred to the daytime-talk-show arena, and after boosting a third-rated local Chicago talk show to first place, she launched her own production company and became internationally syndicated.

Janice Wyatt McArthurI am beyond sad, and furious that I can't watch this. Oprah, why are you doing this on HBO, which poor people can't afford? Couldn't you have just picked a 'regular' (non-cable) channel to air this on? The irony of this is that both you and Henrietta Lacks grew up poor, but when you decided to do a project like this, did it ever occur to you that poor people can't watch it? I read the book and loved it (despite the sadness in it), but now only people who can afford cable can watch it. Doesn't that strike you as unfair? SMH!

Doris O'Reilly-DillonThe original Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks was published in 2010. The original book depicts Ms. Lacks on the cover, prominently. Imagine my surprise when, at the Charlotte airport recently, I saw what looks to be a reissue of the book with your face on the cover, prominently, and Ms. Lacks' picture appearing as a seeming afterthought on the upper, right-hand corner of the book's cover. I thought to myself, is this a book about Ms. Lacks or a book about Oprah and her HBO special? I believe, respectfully, that the cover I saw at the Charlotte airport diminishes Ms. Lacks and her story while promoting you and your HBO special. I don't doubt your heartfelt interest in telling Ms. Lacks' story; however, I believe your face on the cover of the book, about HER life, is inappropriate.

Perhaps stop thinking of yourself as poor and not think of other people as poor. Change your mind, change your life. And if you can't get the channel, don't you have friends, relatives? If not, then you will have to wait. But please don't whine to Lady O about your woes. The onus is on you to learn, expand your awareness, seek to live your best life. Theresa WeismandelI felt blessed to read this book. It is such an atrocity that a human being could be treated this unjustly during her life and afterward. I look forward to watching the HBO special. Big corporations and Big government can walk right over people and justify their acts because individuals do not have money to fight back. CPS corruption, sex slavery, and stealing and pillaging families money are some of today's injustices that are occurring behind closed doors. All Injustice is evil and needs to be brought to the light or we truly cannot live in a Democracy.

Tim WardOh, Oprah! What have you done? Why would you undo all of the good works you have done fighting for your LGBT friends and fans? Why? You've been a pillar of strength and a light of hope for so many of us who lived in the shadows of fear. It was because of you that many LGBT brothers and sisters found their voices and dared to move out of their darkness into a future that beamed with a promise of better tomorrows, where the freedom of love and acceptance would no more be silenced by the hearts of hatred. You gave that to them, Oprah! You! Where do we go from here? We've seen your heart and how magnificently it beats for the world of oppressed people and how you've radiated the possibilities of new beginnings in the souls of the weakest spirits. I'm just a bit lost, feeling the past with you may have been unreal. Praying that there is an honest explanation for supporting someone whose mind, heart and spirituality have freely admonished LGBT people who are different than him. I struggle to think of turning away from you at this time, Oprah. After you have openly carried a torch of love for the world, I have to pray that you are still that friend for strangers who believed. Sending up prayers for you now!

Sometimes there is some information at the end of the show saying what the families are up to, and some of the readings that I remember were that there wasn't a change or the wife who claimed to be leaving the cheating husband is still with him. DMX did not seem to change at all. He did not seem to want it; yet, he called her for help Evelyn? She seemed to be on a path to positive change before meeting with Iyanla, not sure.

I had to turn it in when i was working n my master's. i did not have to go very far, because on all sides of my family have already been documented. my ancestors from the south picked, spun and dyed their own clothing. they never once owned anyone. my mother was the first person to tell me about Lucy. oh well...i love writingyou this letter and i hope one of your assistants enjoy reading it. sending you butterfly kisses and hugs...bren

Lana Fiorentino EarlyDear Oprah- My friend Laura and I have been following you since the beginning of your career. Like many women, we felt an immediate connection and have watch you grown not only as a celebrity but as an inspiration to all, especially women. Both Laura and I have been educators for over 20 years in the state of Maryland. We began our career filled with enthusiasm and compassion while educating all children. I have been in both high- achieving and low performing schools while Laura's experience has been with at-risk students. Over the span of time we have witnessed a deterioration in student achievement, academic rigor and teacher morale. With an increase in high-staking testing and accountability- the issues above have been exacerbated. Instead of serving the remainder of our career- frustrated, disillusioned and accepting mediocrity- we want to make a significant difference with authentic education reform by incorporating placed-based educational practices, wellness and leadership grooming for both teachers and students. My friend Laura (my Gayle) and I have been working diligently to create a proposal that incorporates what we believe the best educational practices, philosophies and space to benefit all students. We have turned to our local government agency and were directed to charter schools. Although we believe a charter can have impact, our vision is wider in scope for we truly believe our school could be a model for educational reform. Our vision is to EMPOWER TEACHERS TO INSPIRE YOUNG MINDS. We both appreciate how you have publicly acknowledge the impact a teacher can have on a child's life and we applaud your efforts in establishing a school in South Africa- it is our hope and our dream that you read our philosophical overview and our commitment to the betterment of young women. As Laura and I have often commented - our model school-is our spiritual journey and it would be a great honor to have you join us to fulfill our purpose in life. Please be mindful that Laura will sending packages to your publicist legal representation, the Angel Network and the studio- if by chance you read it and embrace it and want to move forward-do NOT hesitate to contact us at the emails or through FB. Whatever your decision may be, both Laura and I want to thank-you for not just being a positive role model but an inspiration- We love Super Soul Sunday- Lana Fiorentino Early & Laura Cocozzella Griffiths

Danica RoysterMy mother Patricia Royster. discovered her passion for biology during her undergrad years at Alabama State University in 1978. Having a heart for research she went on to receive her Masters in cellular and molecular biology. Completely unaware of their significance from 1978- 1984, my mom conducted research on the famous HELA cells. In June 1984 she completed her thesis on Urea-Extraction of Cell Spreading Factor from Cultured Mammalian Cells. Her passion pushed her into a career as a health physicist where she worked at NNSY for 30 years! 👩🏾‍🔬

Karen Hayward LevinsI am a scientist and learned about the value of HeLa cells when I was in school many many years ago. A couple of years ago, a colleague told me about the book written about the person 'behind' these cells. I am so glad I read the book. (I'm not a regular or avid book reader but I was captured by this story and read the book cover to cover in only a couple of sittings). The story and the book really did "open up my consciousness". As scientists, we often take for granted the materials and equipment that help us understand complex matters. This book injected humanity into my impersonal scientific world. Thank you Rebecca Skloot and Oprah for bringing this important story to the public ' s attention. And THANK YOU to Henrietta for, (albeit unknowingly, which is a travesty in its own right), contributing to the advancement of countless miracles of science and medicine.

Marianne PeirceO, I pay like $100+ a month for cable and don't get your network or HBO, b/c it costs even more, it SUX, and I think that is the case w/a lot of people. You should try to get on with a better cable package OR have your own private channel (internet or other) and I myself would pay (a reasonable amount) for it each month, X millions of people, that would be worth it and then your awesome messages can continue to penitrate the globe. We need you O, we miss you!

Collins,CO from his duty station at Pearl Harbor in the 4 months immediately preceding the bombing of Pearl Harbor..The last letter was written just 2 weeks before the bombing. The letters are published as scanned documents since my father's handwriting is quite legible. Also I think this makes it all more intimate and personal. I think you might enjoy this book. The book is entitled "Love Letters from a Sailor in the Pacific" and is available on Amazon.

Jillian CooperLast night's episode was so gooood! It only proved I was right about Mae's relationship with Lionel when his son said he'd never tell and Jacob finally having found the courage to stand up for himself. If I were to write for the show this is what would happen next: Triumph and Triumph Two would have major financial issues and Jacob would be caught in the crossfire but by the time he's returned home it'll be too late. Lionel's son (Aaron?) would take Jacob's place (since he's already moved into the home into the room, etc...) and when Jacob sees how much James and Mae relies on and caters to him, he'd do everything in his paper to fight for his position. Grace and Darius' relationship would come to a screeching halt when Noah returns and they rekindle their romance, complicating Grace's relationship with him, after he's just annulled his marriage to Isabel. Charity's relationship with Jabari evolves into a blossoming romance but takes a turn for the worse when he's bludgeoned by her husband. Kevin's arrested for Jabari's murder and his trial is publicized as the trial of the century. Everyone turns their back on him except Aaron and from the inside, Kevin plots revenge on Charity using Aaron as his right hand man. As for Mac, he'd start having panic attacks and hearing voices in his head. He'd be admitted to a mental institution (courtesy of his dear caring sister, Lady Mae, of course 😉 *sarcasm*) and he'd be forced to deal with his demons head on, especially when he's raped by his caretaker. I haven't figured out how I'd bring Kerissa back into the fold but the show definitely needs her. The Sophia and Zora storyline wouldn't even exist. They wouldn't even be a factor. I let my imagination run wild 😂 Back to the show, it gets better every week and I'm so looking forward to next Wednesday's episode.

I love my dad so much and he wasn't supposed to live past 35 and he just turned 61. I've been blessed to have him as a father and grandfather to my son, we have learned empathy and patience. As he is nearing closer to the end I just want him to be recognized for giving up his life to serve our country and protect us. Beyza CeI think the fact that Oprah had a terrible past made her who she is today. Because it motivated her. It destabilized her soul and as a result her soul generated more energy to be able to survive. If she had a normal childhood, she still would have been a successful woman because she is gifted but she would not have been who she is today. She also complain about her obsessions to "please others on an extent to neglecting herself" well- her obsession to please others enabled her to excel at pleasing the audience and that manifested itself as "high ratings". I love Oprah, and I do not want to say that it is actually good that she had to go through hell- but that is how she became this amazing success.

Love is stronger then anything. momm...All kidding asside, I wrote to You on Your private message 4 years ago, I told You I seen Visions, that was way before anyone cashed in on them, @ the time it seemed like a drunk excuse for attention, someone hurt? Yes I was having some drinks, Yes i was hurt, But the Truth is I do see Visions, No one can be so accurate nothing is almost.... Mortal Powers are limited...We have a greater threat, We have as 25% chance to make things better...World wide...The last time I told You, You said that is because Your life is not what You want..Wrong....This has nothing to do with me or my singing....We are all about to have a horric Easter...God Bless America ...Always the backbone Tone AntoneOO

Judy DixonI'm watching you and Cheryl Straud interview, the second one and wondering if I'm strong enough to live my own intention. I lost my husband of 17 years Feb. 2016 after many years of bad health, finally he was freed from that body that just was not working with him or for him. I caught myself screaming at God, "You could have healed him, you didn't have to kill him. "That was my scream late at night. But then I realized, one thing that scared me, was that my husband was a unique personality who accepted me with all of my quirks (he had a few too, lol) but we loved each other's individuality with no limitation. I didn't think I'd ever find that again, who would ever want me again was one fear. Though I couldn't think of anyone I would want, to me it would take 10 men to fill LD's shoes. I now, after some months of professional grief counseling have got some idea what I might do to reconstruct my diasected life to be something I will call phase 3. My question this morning, after watching supersoul and your interview with Cheryl is can I be brave enough to live my intention? I'm hearing in my mind's ear fro LD, YES! (I'll take it one day at a time with the knowledge LD's right behind me.)

Alex MosesAccording Anthony Robbins people will take action to avoid pain 9 times more than to gain pleasure. On Subconscious mind level pain equals fear. it means we will do everything we can in our power to avoid fear. Samples of Fears: Financial Success Acquiring money Relationship (boyfriend/girlfriend, mother/father, kids, friends) Being Social Etc... In 1960's KGB (Russian inelegance), just like CIA and MI6 (British intelegance) been developing a perfect agent, who will have no fears of any kind and can be perfect agent Russians had unlimited funds for research and development of a perfect method to reprogram human subconscious mind to creat a perfect agent and after years of development they have created the method that was kept in secret until Soviet Union collapsed. My partner Mark was given access to this method by his teacher from Moscow who been given this method by an old man who has been A KGB agent who has been involved in this research decades ago. We have tested the method and so far every person ho have tried it so positive results. It is simple an can change persons subconscious Programing one program at the time very quick and effectively. At this time we are looking for people who are interested to improve their quality of life and reprogram their mind so they can achieve their life's goals. Today we offering this services for free to build enough case studies as a proof that method works. What we need is place to practice it and people who are interested to try it. Let me know what you think (call if interested to hear more)

Blanca Acosta RabassaI always knew Oprah was phony, but know I also know she has no shame!:In honor of MLK’s memory, “The Promised Land” is what Oprah Winfrey named the sprawling, 42-acre estate in Montecito, California that she calls home. The 23,000-square foot Georgian-style manse sits on over 42 acres and touts a tea house, more than 600 rose bushes and an upscale outhouse. Oprah reportedly paid $52-million for her home. The home, as it stands now, was built in 1959, with several additions along the way. It is now worth almost $88-million, with a recent property tax bill of $904,239.00. AN 88 million house; THAT'S AN INSULT TO DR. KING!

Thaddeus Joseph BeaulieuYou have no right to present the church in such a horrible fashion. Why use dirt and wickedness under the Church title to make money? The devil is constantly seeking to bring a bad reputation to the church. Yes, there are many evils in the world and the church welcomes all, so evil people are found there too, but let's instead focus on the True Saving Power of the Blessed LORD and Glorious SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST and HIS Love for humanity. By GOD'S Great and Glorious Grace, I don't watch movies (maybe 5 at most in 20 years), especially if they are not to Glorify GOD. But even the preview of the show presented in the post doesn't look hope-filled. Let us spend more time praying, fasting, and obeying GOD, instead of looking for ways to make more money at the expense of the Blessed Church of GOD. Much love in CHRIST JESUS to all. AMEN.

African American women, Listen up!! Do you think your husband likes that? YOU ARE ELEVATING A MAN BEFORE YOUR BOYFRIEND OR HUSBAND. Much Less cases or occurences entailed African American men. You MUST possess the desire to evolve. **To evolve as a race of people we must FIRST Love OURSELVES. **As King of The World, i need for you to evolve at a faster rate. She signaled for me to approach and I made a complete fool of myself bawling and repeating her name over and over. She was gracious just like I knew she would be. 💕. Gone but never ever forgotten.

I cannot credit enough the absolute life shaping experience it was every day coming home from school and watching the Oprah show. And how through that afternoon day time show I learned so many things I have taken with me into the rest of my life.

Alice LaVonne Gross-HawkinsAwww, memories! Lady "O", my daycare was inspired by the eye of Sethe from "BELOVED", its that part in the movie where your eyes and younger Sethe's eyes become one. For Sethe was strong and brave, she had success and some set backs as well, yet , she kept moving forward. It's been more than 20 years since the making of that movie that changed our lives and home forever. BELOVED is here to stay, come see and lets take a selfie with all of the children from " A BELOVED START DAYCARE". Oh, some of the children have children now, and yes, they are here too! My work MUST be great, you two ladies paved a path for me. Blessings this day as we celebrate Madame Maya Angelou.

Maddie KellyYou look like mother and daughter. We all know that, spiritually, you were and are. "Continue to float happily in the sea of infinite substance which set aside riches for you before you had a name." She wrote these words to you for your 50th birthday, not realising the gift they'd be to the rest of the world too. You are both my heroes. When I was blessed to meet you during your Australian tour in 2015, I told you that you change lives by teaching people how to forge their own path and create the destiny of their dreams, despite the adversities they may face. I know that Maya played the same role in your life that you, Oprah, play in mine: a teacher, guide and bringer of light. How fortunate it is that you and Maya grew to be so close. God knew that the pair of you would change the world together, and you have done exactly that. Special days, like Maya's birthday, are surely bittersweet for you, as you must miss her so. Never forget that she is the "rainbow in the clouds", just as you are for many of us. Thank you Oprah and thank you Maya.

Lroy TaylorDear Senate and Congress Democrats and Republicans the American people do not pay your salaries to divide the country with your petty feuds. What you have put good man through the wish to serve the American people and make America great again only exposes Democrats as the party who has been serving itself for too long and has no respect for the Constitution the laws or the American people. It is time you do your jobs and start working together for your bosses the American people whom you work for they do not work for you. The American people have every right to expect their rights to be protected and to come first not last. The American people are tired of paying for their employees mistakes higher crimes, addictions, illegal immigration, illegitimacy, education for non citizens, medical care for non citizens, subsidies and other benefits including Social Security for non citizens and their children are bad treaties trade deals, eight subsidies especially to countries in the hundreds of billions who are anti-America. Do the job your paid to do serve the America and the American people first enforce the Constitution of the United States and its laws and is freedoms and liberties remembering America was founded one nation under God and we speak one language and salute one flag those who come to this country should honor America’s believes and what it stands for freedom and liberty and equal justice for Americans and those who wish to become Americans and not illegal. You don’t break the laws and have equal rights let alone more rights than citizens. Get to work and serve the American people whom you betrayed long enough. God bless America. Honor our forefathers in our military and never forget what they have fought and died for. Freedom and liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Losing 700,000 of our businesses and industries. Millions of our jobs and millions forced out of their homes is evidence you have not done your jobs.

CJ SchultzHey Oprah, would you please help in producing a made for TV movie of a true story of an unsolved murder case that happned in Chicago.in 1955-56? The Chicago film office picked it as i of the 50 best screenplays written & suggested finding a producer which isn't easy to do so I'm turning to you for possible help ith this. I realize that this is a shot in the dark that you will even read this but I was also on your TV show back in June of 1994 which was for anyone who had always wanted to do something in their Life time & then finally did it. So, I'm running out of time here & over 15 years ago I even wrote about this unsolved murder case of 2 young girls that were murdered in a book that I wrote of what really had happened "Memoirs of a Midnight Flower" which you can check it out on line for more details if needed. Thanks for any consideration that you can extend to me on my behalf.

It's about a kid who escapes genocide from west africa, traveled as a stoaway on an American cargo ship, But woke up in south korea. With a twist of luck, he was adopted by Korean americans, many years later he became an international arms dealer for the north koreans. When they discover untouched natural resources in his country . They ask him to do something he doesn't want to do. Jillian CooperI finally got the chance to catch up on Wednesday's episode and based on what I've seen here's my analysis of it: Kerissa needs to stop blaming Grace for Jacob's dismissal from Greenleaf World Ministries. I'm no fan of Grace but I believe in fairness and it isn't fair to attack the one person trying to change the family dynamic for the better instead of mediating between the tumultuous father-son relationship between Bishop and Jacob. I feel bad for Mac. I know I shouldn't but I do. As viewers, we must realize the abuser have been abused. That said, I look forward to his childhood and what started him on this path as this deceptive, scheming, hypocritical man. I hate this entire Zora/Sophia storyline. It's nothing but a filler plot and the more this show progresses, the more it irks me that the writer (Erica Anderson) seems to focus on them. This is not a teen drama, it's a soap opera. So I'm going to need her to act like it is. Grace's "bad girl" moment when she hit Mac's car was unexpected and shocking BUT totally unbelievable. She's portrayed as being good natured, positive, and well intentioned so it's hard for me to accept this sudden need to be after Mac all the time, because it's still not clear to me what she wants from him, even after the sexual assault of the young ladies which he's paid for. That said, the last scene (which was supposed to be the "climax" of the show) was subpar. GREENLEAF/OWN call me, I'll write for the show and get the show right. I promise.
